Our Mission Minturn Middle School is a place where all students are welcomed and encouraged to strive for excellence. Through standards-based instruction and the Expeditionary Learning philosophy, we provide many opportunities for academic success. Our goal is to create independent learners who have the tools and knowledge to positively contribute to society. Working together with our school community, we provide an environment which promotes literate and self-confident students. MMS offers a middle school experience that engages students in compelling learning through expeditions, fieldwork and service. At MMS, a wide variety of students with varying needs work together to create products and performances that have meaning in the local community and beyond. Accomplishing Our Mission Our mission will be accomplished through the collaboration of various groups: students, staff, families, and community members. This collaborative model is one of the many positive aspects of an Expeditionary Learning school. By engaging as many people as possible in our children’s education, we increase the relevance and power of their learning. We want to express our thanks to everyone who has helped us bring Expeditionary Learning to Minturn Middle School and we look forward to welcoming more individuals to our school community.
